This course is relevant for new and experienced treasurers alike - and has been appropriately updated for delivery online.

With a very practical approach, “The Basics” equips today’s treasurer with the knowledge needed to carry out their multifaceted role. Subjects covered include:

  • Treasurer as Planner: Budgeting; Risk Management
  • Treasurer as Optimiser: Gift Aid; GASDS; VAT

Please note: this is the second session in a series of three, all of which are available to attend virtually. ACAT strongly advises delegates to book sessions 1, 2 and 3 of ACAT's Basics course to ensure that you receive maximum benefit from this training.

Samantha Amsden

Samantha is a Finance Resources Co-ordinator for the Diocese of Durham.

She has extensive experience working as an internal auditor as well as having been a church treasurer.
At the Diocese of Durham, Samantha supports treasurers and PCCs with resources and training to help ensure that all churches can flourish.

Malcolm Edge

Malcolm Edge

Malcolm Edge is a part-retired accounting technician (FMAAT). For most of his life he has worked for Christian charities in the finance function. He currently works two days a week for an Anglican theological college near Oxford, paying suppliers and running payroll.

In a voluntary capacity he is trustee and treasurer of a local Christian Youth Trust, and has been the finance governor of a local primary school. He has worked for two CofE dioceses and two missionary societies, one Baptist and one Anglican.

He currently worships with a local Anglican/Baptist LEP congregation.
