ACAT’s Membership Officer Susan Bye retires

ACAT’s long-standing Membership Officer Susan Bye is retiring after more than a decade in the role.

Susan has been the first point of contact for thousands of our members since she joined the charity in February 2009.

Upon her appointment, Susan became ACAT’s second part-time employee and she singles out for mention the “exceptional growth” she’s witnessed over the past ten years.

Susan was offered the job by the then ACAT treasurer having been made redundant from a sales office in a small manufacturing company.

Susan explains: “I was successful at interview and felt very much that it was a God-given opportunity at that time in my life.”

She continues: “I thought I knew Excel spreadsheets – until I took over.

“I was in awe!”

When asked about the highlights of her time at ACAT, Susan singles out for mention several key areas.

“I’ve certainly met some lovely people over the past decade – and that includes members, suppliers, staff and trustees.

“And this is one of the things I’m going to miss most following my retirement.

“In addition, I’ve certainly enjoyed the challenge of embracing new technology systems.”

Based in Nottingham, Susan is married to Martyn and the couple have two children, Paul and Carolyn, and four grandchildren, aged between five and 10.

In her retirement, Susan is looking forward to “a change of pace” combined with more family time, caravan holidays and also being able to commit additional time to current commitments with church and Rotary.

Ashley Ellis, ACAT Executive Officer, said: “Susan’s contribution to ACAT over the past 11 years has been nothing short of outstanding.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Susan personally for her unwavering commitment and wish her and Martyn every happiness for the future.”

Susan officially leaves ACAT on Friday, June 12.
