ACAT has published new guidance specifically for those considering becoming a church treasurer for the first time.
Entitled “What to consider when you’re asked to become a Church Treasurer…”, the new report guides readers comprehensively through some of the pros and cons of taking on the role.
The guidance has been written by Robert Scott-Biggs, one of ACAT’s founders and long-standing supporters.
Robert is a strong believer in the importance of the role of treasurers and their place in supporting the ministry of the church.
He writes in the new guide’s introduction: “Being a church treasurer is not easy and at times is stressful. “However, it is also immensely rewarding and at times extremely enjoyable, because the role is essential for the churches’ ministry to a needy world.”
Robert highlights the five basic personal qualities that will assist the would-be treasurer before detailing what professional skills are required to complete the role most successfully.
Ashley Ellis, Chief Executive of ACAT, said: “I would like to thank Robert most sincerely for the time he’s invested in producing this excellent new guide for ACAT.
“Like Robert, I also believe that it’s immensely important that anyone who’s thinking of becoming a church treasurer understands fully what they’re taking on.
“In this guide, Robert details clearly and succinctly outlines precisely what the role entails as well as the trials and tribulations that are likely to be encountered.
“ACAT is committed to assisting church treasurers of all denominations in their invaluable role – and it’s never been more important to ensure that those embarking on their career are fully briefed from the outset about what will be expected.”
