THE first Churches’ Legislation Advisory Service (CLAS) online meeting of 2022 will take place on Thursday, March 31.
CLAS has arranged for the Community Security Trust (CST) to lead a free presentation on ‘Basic Security for Places of Worship,’ as part of its ‘SAFE’ initiative, between 12noon and 1pm.
From CCTV to learning what is “suspicious”, the presentation will look at personal safety, emergency procedures and IT security.
The meeting is intended to provide potential ideas for church action plans.
SAFE is an initiative by the CST that aims to improve the security of the UK’s faith and minority communities.
CST is a charity that protects British Jews from antisemitism and related threats and is recognised by the police and government as a unique model of best practice.
CST provides security advice and training for Jewish communal organisations, schools and synagogues, and secures over 650 Jewish communal buildings and approximately 1,000 communal events every year, at no charge. It also shares its knowledge with other faith groups.
SAFE shares CST’s security knowledge with groups outside the Jewish community that are vulnerable to violent extremism or hate crime.
This includes people who regularly attend a place of worship, and in particular community leaders, managers of places of worship and people who wish to become involved in making their community as safe as possible.
