ACAT’s first-ever Virtual Conference attended by hundreds of delegates

ACAT’s first ever online conference has enabled hundreds of delegates from across the country to delve further into the worlds of faith, finance, law and technology.
Between Monday, October 5, and Thursday, October 15, several hundred delegates booked on at least one of the webinars which were specifically devised to meet the needs of church treasurers from all Christian denominations.
The title of this year’s event was ‘The Challenge of Change – Securing Your Church’s Financial Future’.
In total, ten courses were organised covering such topics as investments for churches, giving, employment law, website development – and much more besides.
ACAT’s Executive Officer Ashley Ellis said that he was delighted with delegates’ initial reaction to the event.
“ACAT’s first virtual conference brought very real benefits to hundreds of our members – which is what we always set out to achieve,” explains Ashley.
“Delegates attended from Scotland down to Cornwall and Wales across to East Anglia which was fantastic to see.
“But the conference would not have been such a success without the speakers who gave their expertise and time.
“Similarly, it would not have been possible for us to hold the event without the sponsors’ invaluable contribution – thank you all.”
The headline sponsor of the ACAT 2020 Virtual Conference was CCLA, the UK’s leading fund manager for Christian churches and charities.
CCLA has more than 60 years’ experience providing competitive and attractive investment management services.
Other sponsors of the event included: independent utility consultant, Andrew Silley; Liberty Accounts; The Business Energy Team; Data Developments; easyfundraising; The Ecumenical Council for Corporate Responsibility (ECCR); GRANTfinder; and Keystone Law.
Ashley continues: “We chose the name for this year’s event – ‘The Challenge of Change – Securing Your Church’s Financial Future’ – prior to the pandemic becoming a reality in everyone’s lives.
“At ACAT, we’re aware that church treasurers are facing more pressures on their finances than has ever previously been the case.
“Our message is simple – ACAT is here for the church treasurers of all Christian churches wherever they’re based whenever they need us.”
