This course provides insight for those considering joining their church's governing body, exploring the role's responsibilities, eligibility, and its biblical context.

Who is it for?

This course is designed for anyone who has been asked, or is considering offering, to be part of the governing body of your church, PCC etc. Also those who are looking for potential future trustees for their church governing body.

By the end of this session, you'll have a greater understanding of the role and responsibilities of a church trustee. You will have thought about eligibility, relevant skills and experience for the role and the charitable context in which the role lies.

The course offers a biblical view of the characteristics of leadership in the church as a further consideration for the church trustee.

Consider and embrace the role with eyes wide open and take the opportunity to consider potentially sensitive questions in a safe environment.

This course is an introduction to the role of church trustee and is complimentary to the 2-session course ‘Trustee Training for Churches’, which is offered at various times in the year, though they stand alone as separate courses.

This introductory course brings real and practical information and insights into the calling to be a church trustee. It's delivered by an experienced trainer who can answer your questions and concerns. Don't miss this opportunity to gain information to make you more confident in taking on the role in your church.

Robert is a founder member of ACAT, one of our former trustees as well as being a member of our training team. He is a strong believer in the importance of the role of treasurers and their place in supporting the ministry of the Church. He also firmly believes that ordained ministers should have a good understanding of the financial issues with which the Church is required to engage.
A Chartered Company Secretary with an M.A. in Theology from Durham University, Robert's 40 year career has spanned the banking, construction and higher education sectors, including consultancy specialising in change-management and the implementation of risk management strategies
In his spare time, Robert enjoys watching National League football, walking in the countryside and he's also a fan of traditional gospel blues music.
