Hi Guest,
As Christmas gets ever closer, I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who have been part of the ACAT training programme this year. It’s a joy for us to support you, and I hope the training itself has been useful for you and for your church.
Christmas, to me, is a time when we get to sing some of my favourite songs – many of which can only really be sung at this time of year. Whether they are traditional carols or more modern favourites. One of mine is Saviour’s Day, written by Chris Eaton. The opening verse talks about moving through autumn, waiting for, waiting for the Saviour’s Day. During Advent, we’re waiting with excitement for Christmas, celebrating the birth of Jesus, but we’re also waiting with expectation and hope for all of the amazing things that God still has in store for us.
Waiting can often seem boring or pointless, I know something any child longing for Christmas Day might agree with! And yet, there is often great joy and anticipation in the waiting, too. I just have to look as children get more and more excited every day, or as my excitement builds as I open each door of my Advent calendar, getting closer to the large chocolate behind the last door. I’m praying this Advent that you and your church are finding true joy in this season of waiting, getting ready for the celebration of Christmas and the reminder of God’s hope for our future.
Looking ahead to the new year, we’re already starting to think about our next batch of training sessions. Here’s a look at some of the things we’ve got lined up:
- We’re going to be running training sessions on the new SORP rules and how to become a CIO.
- Our Gift Aid training is scheduled for March, with bookings opening in January.
- We’re planning an Introduction to Computer Security for January; bookings are already open.
- We will, of course, be running another Being a Church Treasurer: The Basics course, so keep an eye on the website for that.
- We are also hoping to put on some sessions on Church Treasurer: Insights into the Role and Responsibilities, and Introduction to Being a Church Trustee.
Do keep an eye on our website’s training pages for the latest updates on what’s coming up and when bookings for each session open.
Thanks again for all that you do in your churches and communities, especially at this time of year when everything is often outward-facing. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas and sending you all my best wishes for the year ahead!
God bless, Cath Fox
Administration Officer (Training)
